“He is in recruitment school until December 17,” said Police Chief Joseph Burton. “That is when he will graduate.”

Officer McGovern is a long time and active member of the Ossining Community. He is a graduate of Ossining High School, a member of Washington Hook and Ladder Co., and a substitute/home tutor for the Ossining School District.

Before joining OPD, McGovern served our country as a member of the National Guard.

“He served in Iraq,” said Burton. “Then continued on and served in Afghanistan. In Afghanistan he supervised basic training of a platoon of Afghani police recruits.”
