Ossining Village Fair Is On: Come On Down!

The endless rain has ended and the fair will proceed as planned, announces the Chamber of Commerce.

Update, Saturday: More than 160 vendors and an estimated 18,000 locals counting on fair weather will be happy to hear: "The fair is on; come on down," says the answering machine at the Chamber of Commerce this morning.

This year, 200 vendor spaces are sold out for the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce’s event held on the second Saturday of each June. Ossining, which is celebrating its bicentennial, will host this year’s event on its historical Main Street, in the village’s downtown from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"It's a day when the Chamber and the community at-large show their spirit and dedication," said Gayle Marchica, president of the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce.

The Ossining Village Fair Committee will decide between Friday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 6 a.m. if they will reschedule the fair for Sunday, June 9 at the same time and place. 

The Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce will leave a message on its answering machine on the status of the fair at (914) 941-0009. An update will also be posted on its website at ossiningchamber.org, and will send an e-mail blast to those who subscribe to their mailing list.

The chamber is reminding food vendors that they must bring their temporary food permits with them from the Westchester County Health Dept., which can be obtained at 25 Moore Ave. in Mt. Kisco. Call 914-864-7330 for more information or click here to download the temporary food permit.  

In addition to the dozens of food, craft and merchandise vendors, four entertainment stages, rides, games, entertainment, a dunk tank and “best slice” contest—there will also be a health fair and blood drive.

Kids Health & Safety Day will be held at the Ossining Community Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes a tour of a police car, fire truck and ambulance; tips on Internet safety tips and identifying and managing bullying; a helicopter landing; a meet and greet with a K-9 police dog; learn about “Project Lifesaver”; get your car seat inspected or installed and Teddy Bear Clinic. Those who would like to donate blood should contact (914) 366-1916. 

The Ossining Police and Fire Departments, WCDPS, Ossining FD, Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corp, Ossining Park and Recreation, Phelps Memorial Hospital, Ossining PTAs, Ossining SEPTO and “Hope for Michael" are sponsoring Kids Health & Safety Day.
