Reach Out and Read
Where/When: Open Door Family Medical Centers on Saturday, Jan. 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Why go: As part of the Volunteer Center of the United Way's MLK Day of Service, you are invited to join the national literacy program "Reach Out and Read" in Ossining Saturday. Teens, college students and families can read out loud to young children. Register at www.volunteer-center.org or by calling 948-4452.

Beer Pong Tournament
Where/When: Westchester Table Tennis Center on Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Why go: Pleasantville resident Will Shortz's Tompkins Avenue facility is hosting a competitive beer pong tournament for players 21 and up this Saturday. There will be four events, preceded by a time when players must drink two beers within 20 minutes. The tournament will follow a round robin style with best of three games to 11 points. Do not wear white clothing. Beer will be provided. Trophies and medals will be awarded in each event. To participate, complete this registration form.

Around the Frozen Lake
Where/When: Teatown Lake Reservation, 1600 Spring Valley Rd, Ossining, NY, 1 p.m. Jan. 19.
Why go: Get outside and get some fresh air! Hike around the lake and learn about woodland creatures and how they survive the ice and snow.
Pricing: Free to members, $5 for nonmembers
