Valley Restaurant at the Garrison to Host Wine-Coupled Dinner; Wines To be Paired by The Sorting Table

A prix-fixe, four-course, wine-coupled dinner will be held atValley Restaurant at the Garrison on Friday, March 7, 2014. 

Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be offered to arriving guests and during dinner, four different wines, (two French and two Italian) will be served.

Selected by Executive Chef Vinny Mocarski to be the main course for this event is braised lamb shank (Cavatelli).

Stephanie Skiptunis, Northeast Regional Manager for The Sorting Table, will visit guests at their tables, describe the wines, and answer questions informally. The Sorting Table is an importer specializing in wines from small family-run wineries worldwide.

The menu follows:

1. PEI mussel salad
Baby fennel, speck, watercress, sherry
Wine: Borgoluce Prosecco Lampo

2. Halibut ala Plancha 
Artichoke, eggplant, black rice, extra virgin olive oil
Wine: 2011 Terra Laura Cheverny Blanc

3. House-made Cavatelli
Braised lamb shank, ricotta, Brussels sprouts
Wine: 2011 Colazzi Liberta

4. Almond cake
Lemon Sabayon, mint, salted almonds, blood orange
Wine: 2011 Zind humbrecht Clos Windsbuhl Gewürtraminer
 Skiptunis received a Certified Wine Educator certificate from the Society of Wine Educators and has a diploma from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust.

James Brown, Restaurants and Beverages Manager, said this is the second in a new and ongoing food/beverage series. Brooklyn beers were highlighted in the opening event a few weeks ago. Next on the schedule is another beer-coupled dinner to take place on April 3, 2014.

The prix-fixe cost for the March 7 dinner is $62 per person plus tax and tip.
