Croton-Harmon High School Celebrates School Pride

In early October, freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors of Croton-Harmon High School gathered in their school’s gym to ring in the fall sports season. Tiger pride was evidenced by the sea of students clad in orange and black, and the school mascot riled up the crowd as the celebration began.

The rally is traditionally held at the end of School Pride Week,  which this year featured the themes of Pajama Day, Formal Day, Western Wednesday and American Day from Monday through Thursday.

Emcees Sydni Brecher and Tianna Karlin began the event by introducing the fall teams’ captains. Each captain spoke on behalf of his or her team, to the cheers of rally-goers from the bleachers. Following was the announcement of the door decorating contest winners and the naming of this year’s Most Spirited Teacher, Kerri Tracy, who was recognized in ceremonial fashion by last year’s awardee, Gina Keidong.

After concluding with a schoolwide volleyball tournament, all came away from the spirit-filled event with greater enthusiasm and a stronger sense of Tiger pride.

Pride Week culminated with the annual Homecoming Celebration on Saturday, with performances by the CHHS pep band, the CHHS varsity cheerleading squad, PVC Middle School modified cheerleading squad and CET Elementary School student cheerleaders. Keeping with tradition, senior cheerleaders, players and their families were honored on the field before kickoff, and players marched onto the field to the chant of “Let’s Go Tigers!” Visiting Irvington edged the hometown Tigers by a score of 17-13.
