Play Readings at the Croton Academy of Arts

Plays read at the Croton Academy of Arts as part of the 2012 Emerging Voices Playwriting Competition.

The Croton Academy of Arts (CAA) is a performance based program
offering a variety of performing arts classes for children through adults.  Known for its teen comedy Improvisation program, "caca",  CAA is now sponsoring a playwriting competition, Emerging Voices.  The goal of the competition is to identify new plays written for teens and young adults by amateur and professional playwrights.  CAA received many scripts from across the country.  A panel of judges, made up of professional playwrights and college Professors appraised the scripts and selected four finalists.  These four final plays will be read over the next few months at the Croton Academy of Arts studio, 8-B Old Post Road, Croton on Hudson, NY.  Once the plays are read, one play will be chosen the winner of the 2012 Emerging Voices Playwriting Competition and that play will be given a full length production as part of the 2012/2013 CAA Teen Repertory Theatre season.  The first two plays are being read in
April they are:

TABLOID LOVE by Kenneth Nichols of Oswego, NY, on Sunday, April 15,
5:00 pm

ESTHER THE QUEEN by Stephanie Swirsky, NYC, on Sunday, April 22,
5:00 pm - please note that this play is not for young audiences. There are strong language and provocative themes.

There is no admission fee.  Please join us and help us to develop new talent and encourage the arts in Westchester.

Croton Academy of Arts is a 501-c-3 non profit corporation.
