Visions For Vacancies: What Should the Former Elks Lodge Be?

You can't help but notice this dilapidated gem (or eyesore, depending on your perspective) as you descend to the intersection of State and Main in the village of Ossining.

The big light blue house - now boarded up - used to house the Ossining Elks but has sat empty for years.

Town Supervisor Susanne Donnelly said it's been bought and there are plans to develop the house into senior affordable housing on the upper floors and a restaurant on the first floor.

Anything more concrete than that is up in the air, like a timeline or what kind of restaurant, said assistant village manager Christina Papes. "This project is still in the very early phases so no hard details are available."

Still, we can dream up our own visions of what we'd like to see in this building. Or should it be a tear-down that leaves room for something else? Share your ideas here: what should this vacant space be?
