Peekskill's ‘The Cove’ is Now ‘Harbor at Charles Point’

The general manager is now running the restaurant/catering hall, in collaboration with her staff.

The general manager, chef and other seasoned staff members at Peekskill's former Cove restaurant, have taken the helm of the enterprise and renamed the waterfront location “Harbor at Charles Point.” 

“We are ready to move forward and let everyone know we have arrived,” said owner operator/general manager Jackie Bufi of Cortlandt Manor.

Bufi worked as the general manager at The Cove under two different owners over her four years there and is eager to make the struggling restaurant profitable. Bufi is the third owner to take a shot at running the place this year. The most recent,  took over this spring but only stayed for about three months.  

Rich’s ownership “just didn’t work out,” according to bar manager Leslie Tomasulo.

 “We really are so much like a family now,” Bufi said of herself and her staff. She emphasized the collaboration she has with the Tomasulo, chef Phil Twyman, and banquet manager Steven Shaw.

 “Most of us have worked here for years and have listened to what the customers want. We put out what should be put out in a place like this,” Bufi said.

Bufi has decades of experience in the food and service industry. She has owned and operated her own catering companies for the last thirty years and ran Pasta Passion in Valhalla for twelve years, where she gained the nickname “pasta lady.”

Harbor at Charles Point officially opened July 5, after closing the restaurant for three days to make the transition. They offer surf and turf, favorite Italian dishes, burgers, salads and more.

“Shrimp Scampi bread is already a favorite,” said Tomasulo, who described it as a hollowed out bread with warm scampi sauce inside and jumpo shrimp around the edge.

Prices range from $10 for a burger to $14 for Spinach fettuccine to $25 for a NY Strip steak. See the full menu on their website

“We want to give a good product at a good price,” Bufi said.

Bufi and chef Twyman made the menu together based on “what we know people want,” from years of experience at that location. Twyman makes his own gnocci and raviolis on site and creates a new gnocci special every day.

As for the bar, Tomasulo has a lot of plans for nightly specials, beer tastings and football specials for the roomy bar area in the front of the restaurant. 

The Harbor is still booking parties and is open for lunch and dinner every day except Tuesdays when they are closed. They will offer Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., where all items are $14. They also boast about their lobster rolls, offered for $15 on Sundays. 

Harbor at Charles Point will be open from noon until 10 p.m. every day except Tuesdays and open until 9 p.m. Sundays. When bands are playing the kitchen will be open late. For more information, visit their website here

This happened last week and can't understand the logic on it During happy hour, in order to get the happy hour price you have to order the drinks at the bar and then go outside with the drinks. If the waiter gets it for you outside, its regular price (even during happy hour) crazy! Happy hour should be happy hour

I used to love going to brunches with my family in the mid-late 90's after which the place went steadily downhill until we stopped going entirely. I hope they can get it back to what it used to be. I'll definitely give it a try this summer.

I agree, Happy Hour should be for the entire facility during that time. People enjoy the outside atmosphere with the view of the Hudson River, I think they should rethink this policy

Doesn't sound the like brunch will be a buffet anymore? Hope that's not the case.
