Jazz Brunch Kicks Off 6th Annual Jazz & Blues Fest

Check out local musicians, enjoy local food, arts, crafts and more on Saturday, July 21.

Thanks to the Peekskill Business Improvement District for this information:

A new element of this year's 6th Annual Jazz & Blues Festival is the Jazz & Blues Brunch, which highlights local musicians at some of the best restaurants and cafes in Peekskill. The Jazz & Blues Brunch is a chance to explore historic downtown Peekskill (with the district added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 as a rare example of intact 19th-century Hudson Valley downtown architecture) and pop in to experience the type of local talent and cuisine that make the Hudson Valley and Peekskill a growing destination for arts, entertainment, and tourism.

The Brunch is from 1 to 4 p.m. on July 21 at participating venues in downtown Peekskill and at the Peekskill Brewery on the city's beautiful waterfront. The music is free and food prices vary.

Participating venues:

presents Annette A Aguilar and the String Bean 4Tet 1 – 4 p.m.

presents the Tristen Napoli Trio at 3 p.m.

presents The Flynns at 1 p.m.

presents Danny Rab & Friends at 2 p.m.

presents Acoustic Blues at 3 p.m.

presents Bakklash at 1 p.m.

presents Alexis Cole & Richard Sussman 1-4 p.m.

Also at Peekskill Jazz & Blues Fest:

Craft Alley, 1 p.m. to Sunset: Park Street (between Division St. & Bank St)

The definition of craft is to have a "skill in doing or making something; to practice an occupation requiring skill or artistry". We are lucky to have many artisans living and working in downtown Peekskill and the surrounding area, including the Hudson Crafts Collective. We hope you will explore the diversity of unique hand-crafted jewelry, clothing and other artisanal crafts being offered for sale by Craft Alley vendors before the main stage goes on.

In addition, Craft Alley will also offer a number of street activities to entertain the whole family, led by Peekskill's own Orange Splot Art Spot.

Festival Food Court – 1 – 10p.m.

S. Division Street (between South St. & Central Ave.)

Besides the great eateries and pubs open for business on N. Division St., there are many other restaurants and cafes in Peekskill that serve delicious food which represents the great diversity of tastes that makes Peekskill a unique urban melting pot of cuisine in the Hudson Valley. Come sample a little bit of everything!

Main Stage – 4-10 p.m.
Division St. at Park St. & Central Ave. For more information on 2012 Main Stage performers, please visit the Artists Performing page.

Twelve Grapes is a wonderful establishment and a great addition to the Peekskill entertainment food and music scene. I always have a great time when I go. Trying going elsewhere and see what u get for your dollar and compare to Peekskill. People don't come cause we are too expensive and dull. They come cause we are near, affordable, offer great service and most of all BIG FUN.

I agree with C. Anderson, why are there no blues acts? I will not be attending this year. Get a new booking agent next year and bring back the blues or don't bother to have the festival!

I love all the restaurants in Peekskill! So much variety and music, too! For excellent Jazz & food I go to the BeanRunner (not to forget they have great art for sale on their walls)! 12 Grapes is pricey but the food is most times well worth it. But Jo is right, too loud for night dinning. I go there mostly to dance! Not many places to dance these days and they have great bands for that! However, I'll have dinner outside at Ruben's (fabulous guacamole and salmon) and listen to the Big Band at 12 Grapes from across the street! That way, the volume is just right! Any way you shake it, Peekskill rocks in the food and music department! :)
