Have you always wanted to sing the National Anthem at the opening of a baseball game? Then the Boulders are looking for you.
The new Can-Am League baseball team based at the new Provident Bank Park in Pomona is seeking National Anthem singers, public address announcers and mascots for its home games, which kick off on June 16.
The Rockland Boulders have scheduled tryouts for Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Town of Ramapo's St. Lawrence Center, 115 Torne Valley Road, Hillburn.
“Attending a game at Provident Bank Park is not only about Boulders Baseball, but the entertainment experience as well,” said Ken Lehner, president of the new team. “We need passionate singers, an engaging announcer and a zany mascot to create a memorable evening.”
No experience is necessary to tryout, but each position requires candidates to be entertaining and professional individuals who will perform at the Rockland Boulders home games in addition to possibly representing the team at community appearances throughout the season.
Lehner said candidates are encouraged to prepare before the tryout, however, materials such as lyrics, an announcing script and props will be provided.

The Boulders (4-3) were off on Thursday. They are in Upper Montclair, NJ, today to take on the New Jersey Jackals in the first of a four game series that begins on at 7:05 p.m. at Yogi Berra Stadium. Jon Velasquez (0-1) takes the mound for the Boulders, while Chris Vasami (0-0) starts for New Jersey.
