A New Yoga Studio Gets Its Blessing

Dragonfly Wellness Yoga opens today on Croton Avenue in Ossining.

Dragonfly Wellness Yoga officially opens its doors for classes Monday, April 8.

The studio, located on Croton Avenue in Ossining, recently held a special pre-opening party, which owner Kendra Rossney called a “Blessing.” She invited friends to write well-wishing greetings on the primed (but not painted) walls of the space. Now painted over, these messages of love will make their “energetic stamp” on the studio, Rossney says.

In her “past lives,” Rossney was a massage therapist in Washington State. But she was born and raised Ossining and says she's thrilled to live here again and opening a business on her home turf.

Rossney is the campus director of Finger Lakes School of Massage in Mt. Kisco, a yoga teacher, and a Reiki experit, skills which she says provide a nice balance between "the right and left sides of my brain."

There are five yoga instructors at Dragonfly to start, along with a massage therapist and a acupuncturist working out of the studio two times a week. There’s also a monthly community Reiki circle.

As far as this yoga craze that seems to be taking over the rivertowns, Rossney says, it’s all good. “You help me, I’ll help you,” she said, looking forward to collaboration more than competition.  “I love having these wellness centers popping up.”

The dragonfly, to Rossney, symbolizes “self realization and deep inner change.” This gets summed up as the tagline for her business, "Change comes from within."
