I love a parade. It's so Americana. I love a primary. It's also Americana.
I love a primary -- like the one held Tuesday, June 26 -- not only because I don't have to vote in one since I am not registered with a political party.
I would call myself an Independent, but a political faction has co-opted a variation on that name -- Independence Party -- which has nicely and no doubt consciously confused the situation.
Members of the Independence Party are not independent precisely because they are affiliated with a political party as a registered member.
So partyless people like me are best described as unaffiliated.
Just think of us as the Un and Lonely -- except we are increasingly unlonely as more voters join the ranks of the unaffiliated who have smelled the coffee to realize they easily could do with one less party in their lives.
