Take a Walk
Next time you feel road rage coming on, walk away from trouble to avoid getting hit in your grille.
You must have heard the joke in some form, old as it is. “What malfunctions most often on cars? The nut behind the wheel.” Road rage can drive you crazy, whether it’s your own or someone else’s.
My friend and fellow gym rat John Settembrino the other morning was singing the praises of constitutionals -- also known as walking – as a healthful way to relax and take in the natural beauty of our bucolic surroundings in the Hudson Valley. We happen to be Yorktowners, so John’s and his companion Pearl’s ambulatory adventure took them to Hemlock Brook Preserve and Sylvan Glen Park Preserve. He said it was quite the revelation.
John’s road map, as for many other nature- and walking-lovers in our midst, is a 40-page booklet, “Yorktown Walk Book, A Trail Guide to Yorktown’s Quiet Ways,” by Yorktown Land Trust, which “promotes the preservation and protection of open spaces.”
