This weekend is Peekskill’s annual Jazz & Blues Festival al fresco. Or I should say it’s Peekskill BID’s (Business Improvement District) annual J&B Festival.
First, the housekeeping: It runs all day July 21 from 1-10 p.m. in the heart of the business district, where No. Division Street and Park Street and Central Avenue intersect at the gazebo (www.downtownpeekskill.com).
Now, the gossip (in my own head, at least). I had a heck of a time finding info about this festival on the City of Peekskill’s website at www.cityofpeekskill.com. Oh, it’s there, but you need a bloodhound to find it. It’s not even listed on the city calendar.
In the City site’s business section, it never mentions BID, only the City’s Office of Economic Development (OED). Hmm. Likewise, I couldn’t readily see a link to the City site from the BID site. Does this mean BID and the City are not chummy municipals right now? Well, at least they don’t seem to be making beautiful music together, not this weekend anyhow. Is OED bidding BID adieu? Or am I making much ado about nothing? Someone, do tell.
