How many of us have cooled our heels at a store counter while the help either is on the phone with an obviously personal call or talking to each other, ignoring the customer as if s/he was The Invisible Wo/Man?
Doctors are retailers too -- they retail health care. How many of us have switched doctors not because of the doctor but because of distinctly unpleasant support staff, especially at the front desk?
I have, and I just got off the phone with a friend who also has. As it turns out, we realized as we spoke about it that we both exited the same medical offices -- though different physicians -- in large part for the same reason: careless, uncaring administrative staff.
