How many times have you gone into a store and been met with indifference or, worse, totally ignored. Yes, it happens even in our cozy suburban environs, which otherwise are extremely hospitable.
There's a coffee house in Northern Westchester, down by the river, where, in my experience at least, the cavalier, "Don't sweat-it-I'll-get-to-you-sooner-or-later" attitude is not uncommon.
There are young people behind the counter who certainly look to be having a lot of fun horsing around with each other, whether a customer is facing them ready to order or not.
