Power Players: Croton Couple on Broadway

Among the many married couples on Broadway profiled recently by the Associated Press are Croton couple Audra McDonald, a five-time Tony winner, and fellow thespian husband Will Swenson.

The pair met on Broadway in 2007 when they both appeared in ‘110 in the Shade,’ going on to getting married last October at their Croton home.

They join a romantic tradition that goes from contemporary power-thespians Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel (met on ‘Rent’) all the way back to Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, who met in the 1919 play ‘A Young Man’s Fancy’ and married three years later. Now there’s the Lunt-Fontanne Broadway theater named in their honor.
