Vance Gilbert will take the stage at the as a part of the 2012 Words & Music Concert Series on Sunday, June 10.
Singer-songwriter Lisa Jane Lipkin will open for Gilbert. Presented by the Ossining Library Foundation, the Words & Music series brings well known singer-songwriters and recording artists to the Library’s 200-seat Budarz Theater for free Sunday afternoon concerts.
Singer-songwriter Vance Gilbert has been a mainstay on the contemporary folk scene since the early 1990’s. He has toured with Shawn Colvin and was a favorite opener of the late comedian George Carlin. Of his music and performances the Boston Globe wrote “His catchy, pop-friendly melodies support keenly crafted, hard hitting lyrics…He is that rare performer for whom people lean forward in their seats as eagerly between songs as they do during them.”
"Whether putting his stamp on songs from artists like Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Wonder, or performing original compositions, Vance is a joy to watch. His lyrics are at times introspective, at times funny and always entertaining." said series co-founder and curator, Alan Marzelli.
