Folk Music Legend Coming to Ossining

Singer-songwriter Vance Gilbert has been a mainstay on the contemporary folk scene, now he's coming to our town.

Vance Gilbert will take the stage at the as a part of the 2012 Words & Music Concert Series on Sunday, June 10.

Singer-songwriter Lisa Jane Lipkin will open for Gilbert. Presented by the Ossining Library Foundation, the Words & Music series brings well known singer-songwriters and recording artists to the Library’s 200-seat Budarz Theater for free Sunday afternoon concerts.

Singer-songwriter Vance Gilbert has been a mainstay on the contemporary folk scene since the early 1990’s. He has toured with Shawn Colvin and was a favorite opener of the late comedian George Carlin. Of his music and performances the Boston Globe wrote “His catchy, pop-friendly melodies support keenly crafted, hard hitting lyrics…He is that rare performer for whom people lean forward in their seats as eagerly between songs as they do during them.”

Opening for Gilbert is singer-songwriter Lisa Jane Lipkin.  Dubbed a cross between Diana Ross and Joni Mitchell, with her piano-inspired music, Lisa has opened for Dar Williams, Tom Chapin, and Steve Forbert, to name a few. She has recorded 3 albums and will perform several from her most recent, Flying on the Instruments.
