Where Did the Former Futurist Think Tank's Sign Disappear To?

Anyone know what became of the historic if obsolete sign that used to sit at the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Glendale in Ossining?

It was for the Hudson Institute, a fascinating and influential conservative think tank that moved out in 1983 but whose sign long remained, until lately.

Taken down? Stolen?

Some helpful background on the Hudson Institute, if you aren't familiar with their work, comes from Wikipedia:

Basically, Herman Kahn, who founded it, had it here until his death in 1983 (then it moved to Indianapolis and then onto headquarters in D.C. where it remains).

Kahn was reportedly responsible for the phrase “total thermonuclear war” – a model for Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove.

“When I moved up here I couldn’t believe there was still a sign! I can’t really see the place – it’s up a hill, behind gates. Very spooky. Have no idea who lives there now,” neighbor Janet Asteroff wrote. “But the other day I noticed the sign was missing!”
