A Look at the Day Ahead & the Weekend

Good morning Croton and Ossining. Today is going to be a great Friday, and the weekend is just hours away.

Everyone is gearing up to celebrate the life of Riley Saper on Saturday. Riley lost his battle with leukemia last June. To honor his memory residents are getting together for the Riley Saper Scholarship Fundraiser, which begins at 9 a.m. with a girls softball game at AMD baseball field. There are numerous events following that one until 8 p.m. For more information go to rileysaperfoundation.org. Patch will be covering this event and we encourage you to head out and be a part of this worthy cause.

Joanna and Cori Lobel will be holding their second annual “Catwalk for Caring” charity fashion show. It will be on Saturday, June 18th at 11:00am at Treasure and Tales Boutique. All of the profits for the fundraiser will be going to the Croton Caring Committee's Meals on Wheels program. Patch reporter Holly Saks will be on hand to report on “Catwalk for Caring.” We hope to see you there.

We’re still getting email from people who were surprised to hear that Croton was in favor of bringing the United Nations Headquarters to the Village back in 1946. If you haven’t read the story already you can check it out here. Please let us know what you think.

Later today publisher Laurie Weisz will offer up advise for parents looking for kid-friendly activities this weekend.

Last week Co-founder of Croton Energy Group Leo Wiegman delved into how we could replace Indian Point. This week he’ll tell us how a city can make energy work in its favor. That’s coming up later today in his column.
