Community Corner

Rogation Procession

Trinity will be renewing the observance of a nearly forgotten Episcopal tradition: the ancient custom of Rogation. It goes back centuries to a time when congregations would take an annual walk around the
“metes and bounds” of their parish to mark its territorial limits and to pray for a bountiful harvest. We will be beginning the procession in the courtyard of the church.

Today parish boundary lines are not strictly observed and Ossining is no longer an agricultural community so we are going to process to the Municipal Building, the Community Center, the Court House and Police Department, Fire Headquarters, Ossining Open Door, and Maple House to ask God’s blessing on those who so ably serve and nurture our community. In addition, there will be an opportunity
to symbolically bless the seeds and earth of your garden if you bring some along.

After the Rogation, there will be “Dutch Treat” Libation at Doca’s Portuguese Restaurant, 125 Main Street, Ossining.
