2 Weather Service Statements on Deep Cold

Another Arctic front moves in overnight, and brief but heavy snow is possible on Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement as well as a Hazardous Weather Outlook notice for Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

The hazardous weather in the forecast is predicted for Saturday. The NWS says we should expect a brief period of snow sometime between Saturday morning and Saturday night. It wouldn't be much in total, but "The frozen ground and moderately strong winds could result in significantly reduced visibilities and hazardous driving conditions."

What's special is the the continued cold.

"Another Arctic cold front will move across tonight," the statement says. High temperatures should remain in the teens through Friday.

Subzero wind chills are expected into Sunday.
