Ossining Town Hall Discusses Middle School Land Sale and Explains School Tax Bill: TONIGHT
From the Ossining Schools District – In a move that could benefit both the schools and larger community, the
Ossining Union Free School District is exploring a unique opportunity to partner with the Town of Ossining in a land sale. Town officials approached the district with a request to purchase five acres of a 36-acre parcel behind Anne M. Dorner Middle School to be used to expand the Dale
Cemetery.
At this point, school officials are seeking community input on the potential sale, which would have to be approved by voters. Revenue generated from such a transaction could be used to help maintain educational programs, while the purchase would enable the Town of Ossining to
provide burial plots to the Chinese community and maintain Dale Cemetery for several years.
There will be a Town Hall meeting to discuss the AMD Land Sale on October 1st the Ossining Public Library. The Ossining Board of Education would need to make a decision to sell the land by November 25th
Ossining School District residents are encouraged to attend these meetings for additional information.
