MICHAEL RAGUSA'S FAMILY IN OSSINING COLLECTING ITEMS NEEDED FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY SANDY

*You may remember Mikey from this article in the Ossining-Croton Patch: http://ossining.patch.com/articles/ossining-family-seeks-volunteers

ALL donations are going straight to partner organizations "on the ground" in the hardest hit areas and are being distributed directly to the people who need them the most.

***If items are dropped at either PD or AFYA, please tell them that Mikey sent you!***

People naturally want details as to where the items are going and through whom and I've been sending that upon request. It may be easier to have that knowledge from the beginning, so you'll find that info below.

In the interest of keeping donations matched with current need, here are the two lists, as of today:

From AFYA Foundation, a humanitarian organization [501(3)(c)] who partners directly with agencies on site in disaster areas to get donated goods directly to the people in the most need. They do amazing work and I've collected supplies/equipment for them for years because of that. My contact info is on their website as a regular drop off site for Northern Westchester.

"Here’s what we need: water, flashlights, batteries, non-perishable food, diapers, baby wipes, school supplies, new socks, blankets, linens, jackets, hats, gloves, backpacks, suitcases, garbage bags, brooms, mops, buckets, cleaning supplies, shovels, extension cords (waterproof), rain jackets, personal hygiene products, vitamin supplements (including Pedialyte and Ensure), glucometers, strips and lancets."

From The Ossining Village Police Department, who is partnering with PD's in affected areas -and- AFYA:

" Items needed are cleaning supplies, including contractor grade garbage bags, work gloves, masks and other related items. Baby diapers and items are still being accepted. Thank you for your support." (Today would be wonderful as I just received word from the officer in charge of these efforts that they are leaving for Staten Island in the morning!)

***We are closely coordinating efforts so that nothing will be wasted.***

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!
