Kickoff the Summer in Croton with Summerfest

Summer in Croton starts every year with Summerfest. Join your neighbors on Sunday and let the summer fun begin!

Summer in Croton is about to kick off with its 24th Annual Summerfest celebration.  (This is really its 25th year but It’s called the 24th Annual Summerfest because it is like having a birthday, you only get to be “1” after you have lived a year.)  As usual, Summerfest occurs on the first Sunday in June.  A parade starting at Veterans Corners and moving to the intersection of Grand St. and Old Post Road North will start the fun at 1 p.m.  Hendrick Hudson High School’s Marching Band will lead the parade.  This year the Grand Marshalls are the men and women serving in the Armed Forces.  Scouts, youth sport teams, elected officials and village staff will all be marching as well.

Following the parade, residents and visitors will be able to satisfy their hunger and shopping pangs with the various vendors while being entertained by two live bands.  The Air Castle will be back for the young kids and there will also be a Cheerleader Dunk Tank and a Little League Radar Gun (for testing your throwing speed), sand art and a demonstration and exhibition by the Croton Council of Arts for kids of all ages. There will also be many community volunteer groups and service organizations such as the Croton Lions, Croton Seniors, Croton Caring Committee, Croton Housing Network and others.  This is a great opportunity to find out more about them, how they contribute to the community and how you might help.  The best part is that you will run into many of your friends and neighbors there all enjoying the start of the summer months in Croton.  Activities will continue until 6 p.m.

This annual event is co-sponsored by the Village of Croton Recreation & Parks Dept. and the Croton committee of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce.
