4) Overnight rain on Sunday night likely extinguished all but most stubborn elements of the brush fire that began last Thursday and burned through over 350 acres of parkland on Clausland Mouintain in Orangeburg, but it took a large coordinated effort by volunteer firefighters, police and other emergency responders to get to that point. "It was phenomenal," Rockland County Fire Coordinator Gordon Wren said. Among the huge response were volunteers from our side of the river. Tarrytown Firefighters were on standby for two days at the Nyack Fire Station. Read about the whole effort here

5) Back to the chill. We're expected to see a high of 48 today with wind gusts and a low overnight of below-freezing 27 degrees.
